I have three bought slides (from the Arnold Richardson "Photobus" collection) depicting Colwyn Bay buses. WCA 186, WCA 729 and CUN 302L. All are Bedfords of some sort, but can anyone advise me of their model types and their fleet numbers if there were any? I haven't been able to find a fleet list on any of the usual sites.

Peter Gould's site (accessible through the webarchive) shows these to be:
4 (WCA 186) Bedford J2LZ2/Spurling B21F
5 (WCA729) Bedford J2LZ2/Spurling B21F
New 1960, withdrawn 1970 (5), 1974 (4).
CUN 302L (no number) Bedford VAS5/Strachan B28F
New 1973, withdrawn 1986

The answer to this question can be found on - Bus lists on the web - WCA 186 & WCA 729 were Fleet numbers 4&5 Both being Bedford J2LZ2 with Spurling B21F bodies.
CUN 302L was a VAS with a B28F Strachan body seemingly without a Fleet number. Possibly by this time simply being The Bus.

The details of the 3 Colwyn Bay Buses are as follows:-
WCA 186 (No.4) WCA 729 (No.5) were Bedford J2LZ2 chassis new in 1960 with Spurling B21F bodywork.
No.4 was withdrawn in 1974, and No.5 in 1970.
CUN 302L was new in 1973 and was a Bedford VAS5 with Strachan B28F bodywork, and was withdrawn in 1986 at De-regulation when the Council decided to stop operating the Sea Front Service.

Thank you, gents. For some reason beyond me, I couldn't access the Peter Gould site yesterday when I decided to broadcast the query. The computer's been a bit erratic lately - I think it might want to "retire"!

British Bus Fleets 17 has WCA 186/729 as nos. 4 & 5, both Bedford J2 LZ2 with Spurling B21F bodywork, new 1960. By the issue of Fleetbooks 5 for the area, fleet numbers had been discontinued and 5 was no longer in the fleet. In the 1977 2nd edition, WCA 186 was no longer listed, the fleet consisting of 2 vehicles, CUN 312L, Bedford VAS5 with Strachan B25F body, new 1973 and KJC 90P Ford A0609 Tricentrol B25F new 1976, both clearly second hand but no information given as to purchase date or original owner.
I photographed WCA 729 with Evans of Llanrhaeadr (between Debigh and Ruthin) in 1971.
