A pair of coaches that found there way to Carneys of Sunderland to work on shipyard contract work transporting workers in the early 1960's between Sunderland and Middlesbrough were LTE 679 and LTE 680 once again any help details be appreciated.

LTE 679, an AEC Regal III with Burlingham Coachwork was new to Barnes & Sons of Rawtenstall in 1950. LTE 680 cannot be traced, however, Barnes also took LTE 335.

Philip,If LTE 679 was chassis number 9621E1159 would this be any help in tracing LTE 680 I realise that consecutive registration numbers does not mean consecutive chassis numbers. Both registrations are listed to Carneys around 4-1960 till 4-1962 in Carneys fleet history. I am working on a theory they were both new to Barnes, then from an undated note is Moseley a coach dealer? Theory then is to Carneys where they stayed as a pair of coaches. Any further details appreciated. Meanwhile thank you for your help.

Alf Moseley was a dealer. According to PSV Circle records LTE 680 was not a Regal III, but LTE 335 was, and had the chassis no preceding that of LTE 679. The following chassis was CCB 353, also with Burlingham body, new to Wearden & Sons, Blackburn. There is no record of LTE 680 having been a PSV. Perhaps there is some confusion over the registration of the second Regal.

Philip. I appreciate your reply and I noted your comments of Moseley dealer and also Wearden of Blackburn re CCB 353. I am interested in the confusion of 2nd. Regal. I was under impression that 1950 year was correct for LTE registrations I have a note in family history of a Regal 111 CFK 340 a restoration project that was New to Burnhams of Worcestor in 1948. I wonder if CCB 353 would have preceded CFK 340 therefore lies the confusion over the second Regal. I am working on the Barnes of Rawstenshall, Lancashire and Weardon of Blackburn, Lancashire. LTE 679 we know was correct to Barnes and if CCB 353 was incorrect may be this be LTE 680 to Wearden with both of them having Burlingham body's. With a Lancashire connection to Rawstenshall and Blackburn the pair could have been acquired from Moseley's who I gather opened a 2nd dealership in Durham the other in Loughborough.They are definitely listed together at Carneys 4/1960 till 4/1962 both consecutive registrations both having Burlingham body's. Just maybe some one can help us out otherwise I will amend my notes to include details of your findings.
