Hulls Atlanteans in various liveries
Kingston upon Hull Corporation Transport purchased four batches of Leyland Atlanteans between 1966 and 1968 as below:-
403 - 412 (FRH 403 - 412D) 2/66 PDR1/1 renumbered 203 - 212 12/66
213 - 227 (JRH 413 - 4127E) 1-2/67 PDR1/1
228 - 243 (NAT 228 - 243F) 1-2/68 PDR1/1
244 - 257 (PRH 244 - 257G) 12/68 - 1/69 PDR1A/1
All four batches carried Roe H44/31F bodywork with the one piece flat windscreen which gave these vehicles a singular appearance, which I find quite attractive. All four batches were delivered in the then standard streamline livery, as shown by 212, This did not sit too happily on the Atlantean bodywork. From 1974 the livery was altered to the new City transport livery shown in several photos. From the late 1970's a number of special liveries were used, and some are illustrated below.
203 (FRH 403D) a 1966 version in 1974 livery,
also carrying fleet number 1974 from its time with
South Yorkshire PTE. It was originally numbered 403.
212 (FRH 412D) shown in original streamline livery
circa 1975, it was originally numbered 412.
232 (NAT 232F) with special livery for International Year of Disabled People (1981)
This was the first bus to pass over the Humber Bridge when it was opened.
282 also shown in the 1974 livery circa 1975.
245 (PRH 245G) above and 252 (PRH 252G) below both carrying the special 80th anniversary livery during 1979. This was the original bus and tram livery prior to 1931.
252 is also shown in the 1974 livery circa 1975.
246 (PRH 246) is seen with ovearll advertising for International DIY stores, mid to late 70's.
247 (PRH 247G) shown in 1977 carring special livery for HM the Queen's Silver Jubilee, temporarily renumbered 25.
253 (PRH 253) shows the rear view of the 1974 livery.
